Mick Dean - Biography

Mick Dean knows how to paint. He also knows a great deal about photography having been a well respected advertising photographer and television commercial director. So when you look at his work you can see how he draws on both abilities and can appreciate all the more these highly atmospheric paintings.

In common with most artists Mick has his obsessions. The one we can talk about is decay. Not just the erosion of the physical landscape around us but also the slow decay of the mind. Memory and our ability to recall thoughts from the past enrich and inform our existence. Our recollections, although vivid, can also be inaccurate. Time will erode both one's memory and the place remembered. Mick’s paintings capture these vanishing worlds.
