information on art

buying for yourself

"Oh, I wish I could draw. I've always wanted to draw. I'd give my right arm to be able to draw. It must be very relaxing." Alan Ayckbourn : Joking Apart 1979

Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone were born with an innate artistic talent which could be called upon when putting those finishing touches to your home. Unfortunately very few of us are blessed in this way and we therefore rely upon the artists among us to produce work which has an immediate appeal. View any artwork in any location - museum, gallery, on the street - and you either love it or hate it. Rely on your instinctive response and you can't go far wrong.

business buying

NBA likes to work with businesses, large or small. Each summer we view work at over 30 Fine Art degree shows throughout the UK. On the whole, we confine our offerings to work that can be hung on a wall. However, we see some fantastic installation, video and sculptural work, along with other work which quite frankly defies description or explanation. We're more than happy to offer assistance to business buyers in a variety of tasks:

  • Buying work straight from the site
  • Acting as consultants in choosing or sourcing artwork for your particular environment
  • Creating a Private Gallery where your employees can view, comment and vote upon favourite artworks before buying
  • Talent spotting at degree shows

investing in art

"Investors are also at the mercy of art-world fashions. Prices can soar on the back of a trend, only to slump again when fickle collectors move on to something new." David Budworth, The Sunday Times, February 11 2007

Your primary investment should be in yourself. Invest in your surroundings. If you have a limitless budget you may want to play the "It's bound to go up in price" game. If you have less to spare perhaps it's better to buy what pleases you rather than what fashion dictates.
