Johanna Wilbraham
From the artist
“My work intends to capture unseen moments, often of fragility and vulnerability, through a distinctive use of colour, composition and mark-making. I encourage a juxtaposition between a public gaze which incorporates elements of fashion photography, and a private intimate one which displays imperfections and anxiety."

artist's biography
“My work intends to capture unseen moments, often of fragility and vulnerability, through a distinctive use of colour, composition and mark-making. I encourage a juxtaposition between a public gaze which incorporates elements of fashion photography, and a private intimate one which displays imperfections and anxiety.
The painting process attempts to create a discourse with the viewer using a contrast between the controlled and uncontrolled, the organised and the instinctual application of paint. The large scale of my paintings demands that attention be given to the people, mundane moments and glimpses that could have remained unseen.”
