artist's biography
"Water is a universal element we all share and a pool can be a space for reflection, relaxation, ritual, competition and transformation. Current work aims to explore the versatility of this subject and the versatility of paint.
In my paintings the use of flat backgrounds for water emphasises the form of the swimmer and how it is broken up into a series of abstract marks. This also avoids too literal a representation of water and allows the viewer space within the image".
