Tritan Braho

From the artist

"My work is mainly still lifes of objects which are related to each other. The objects are represented, as they would be found in real life, in an evidence-like style. In my paintings they are like small, lifeless witnesses of what has been or has happened. The objects I tend to select are participants in the action."

Biography

"My work is mainly still lifes of objects which are related to each other. The objects are represented, as they would be found in real life, in an evidence-like style. In my paintings they are like small, lifeless witnesses of what has been or has happened. The objects I tend to select are participants in the action.

My work is categorised by a very academic technical style. The composition of the work, the chosen colours, the positioning of an object at the very centre of the canvas and the very clean background give the chosen object a real sense of importance.

The focus in my painting is only on one point of the canvas, leaving the rest of the composition blurred. An important part of my work is the observation of these objects in space through the lens of the camera, which tends to mimic the human eye. I am attempting to achieve the same result in my painting,

I think that objects can talk about life. By including some personal items you can create a narrative about the person who was in the scene; you can guess what he/she was doing, and something about their personality.

My new work concentrates on nature and the simple sensuality of plants and fruits."
