Graham Holland

From the artist

The social studies I produce are lens based, taking images from amongst cityscapes. I use a multiple intersection of architecture, traces of human interaction, traffic, signs, street furniture, text, repeating forms and any components within the city to construct my images. I extract the rhythm of the scene, allowing the viewer to engage with and expose the geographies we inhabit within contemporary existence and experience the frantic turbulence of city life."

Biography

The social studies I produce are lens based, taking images from amongst cityscapes. I use a multiple intersection of architecture, traces of human interaction, traffic, signs, street furniture, text, repeating forms and any components within the city to construct my images. I extract the rhythm of the scene, allowing the viewer to engage with and expose the geographies we inhabit within contemporary existence and experience the frantic turbulence of city life.

The images are visually powerful photoholographic realities, where gravity is not always visible and architecture can appear impossible, building a new space which has become submerged in everyday presence.
