artist's biography
D.O.B: 1960
Although interested in photography from an early age, Graham has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and started his working life within the industrial world.
His photography developed when he started to travel globally, climbing some the world’s higher mountains. These experiences, not just of the mountains, but also of the people and their lifestyles, had a profound effect. With trips to the Andes, the Himalaya, Africa and a rather painful camel trek in Egypt, Graham was able to develop his technique and style, before turning professional.
For Graham, landscape photography is not just about well-known viewpoints and clear blue skies. He prefers to seek out relatively unknown places and find intimate compositions, which give a sense of the surrounding environment. These compositions are not always literal and can use techniques, such as panning or stitching, to give an abstract result that aims to creates a further dimension of interest. Graham’s view of the world is of a place where the sheer beauty, on a grand or miniscule scale, can be an uplifting emotional experience - and one that needs our protection. His images aim to convey some of that sense of wonder.
